Elizabeth Oldfield is Director of Theos and regularly features in the media, including BBC One, Sky News, and the World Service, writing in The Financial Times and delivering Thought for the Day on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme. In a recent article for Theos she succinctly states the case for religious freedom – for all religions.
She begins: “I believe in the absolute centrality and importance of religious freedom for healthy, diverse societies. And yet, in public debates I find myself more and more uncomfortable defending it. The concept of religious freedom, a powerful force for justice, is becoming tainted by association with forces who are not that interested in justice for all.
We need to rescue it.
