34th Annual Multi-Faith Pilgrimage for Peace and Friendship

Jon Dal Din, Director of Westminster Interfaith, organised the 24th Annual Walk, on 8 June 1019, between different places of worship. All Faiths Network members were amongst approximately 50 people from a wide range of different faiths who went on the walk.

At each place we were given a short explanation abut the place of worship and the religion itself. We started at the Ahmidiyya Moslem Baitul Futuh Mosque in Morden. From there we went to the Buddhapadipa Temple in Wimbledon where afterwards lunch was provided by a Sikh order called Sachkhand Nanak Dham International. After lunch we walked to St Mary’s Church (Anglican) after which it was the Wimbledon Sunni Mosque and then we finished at the Shree Ghanapathy Temple (Hindu) where we were also given a presentation by followers of Sathya Sai Baba.

The day was a great opportunity for people of many different faiths, and faiths within faiths, be they Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Jewish, Sikh, Sai Baba or Scientologist (and no doubt more – no-one was keeping count) to share in common values, experience some aspects of another’s religion and enjoy each others’ company whilst admiring the different places of worship and the spaces in between.
